Rifampin
Rifampin inhibits the bacterial ribosome by complexing with the beta-subunit encoded by the rpoB gene. Resistance to rifampin is mediated by specific mutations in the beta-subunit of the rRNA polymerase or less commonly by drug inactivation and drug binding.
