Chloramphenicol acetyltransferases

Resistance to chloramphenicol can be mediated by acetylation of the antibiotic molecule. The enzymes that carry out this transfer an acetyl group from acetyl-CoA to the chloramphenicol molecule are known as chloramphenicol acetyltransferases.
