Elfamycins
The elfamycin class of antibiotics are characterized by their common target: Elongation Factor Tu (EF-Tu). EF-Tu is an integral part of protein synthesis, and inhibition of EF-Tu disrupts protein synthesis in various ways. The four main drugs in this class of antibiotics are kirromycin, enacyloxin, pulvomycin, and GE2270A.
