Aminoglycoside efflux pumps

Active extrusion of aminoglycoside antibiotics occurs via the resistance-nodulation-division family of transporters. These have been described in Escherichia coli for the drugs amikacin, gentamicin, neomycin, kanamycin, and tobramycin.
