Betalactamase regulator

Beta-lactamases modify the beta-lactam ring of the beta-lactam antibiotics, rendering the molecule ineffective in preventing bacterial proliferation. Production of beta-lactamases is a common form of beta-lactam resistance; there are several classification schemes for the beta-lactamases. Here we have chosen to use the Ambler classification scheme, which divides the betalactamases into four functional categories: A, B, C, and D. Additionally, there exist regulators of the betalactamase genes, which fall into this category.
