Phenicol 23S rRNA methyltransferases

Target modification is a common mechanism of resistance to antibiotics. The 23S methyltransferases transfer a methyl group to the 23S rRNA component of the bacterial ribosome, preventing the action of the MLS, phenicol, thiostrepton, and multi-drug group of antibiotics.
